Step 1 ~ One Bak Foong Pill
Step 2 ~ Put the 'Pill' into a bowl of boiling water.
Step 3 ~ Drink it up.
I got a box of this pill from my Sis. The Bak Foong Pill is said to be a highly potent pill concocted with many Chinese herbs to promote health and youth. But take it at your own risk! I was shocked at how huge the 'Pill' was (Measured 4cm by 2.5cm) and it certainly tasted 'out of this world'. When I read the contents, I was doubly shocked (semen sesami nigrum?? Faeces Trogopterori??).Er, Serene, you can have the rest back.
Ways to eat it: Chew it in your mouth or follow the steps above.
T.S wanted to stop me from torturing myself but I drank it up anyway. This reminded me how the 'Ashes in Water' concoction my mum forced me to drink but this is worse. Don't ask me why I have to eat this...

My Christmas Wish to All Friends
It is a quiet Christmas Day for T.S and me. Ryan is celebrating with his cousins at his Grandmother's house. T.S bought breakfast and did some housework (without making me feel bad). Guess we will just spend some time together today, what else can we do in Singapore besides walking along our famous shopping belt, Orchard Road? Strange feelings about what is 2007 like for us. Where will we be? What will we be doing? I just learnt that an old church friend just past away 3 days ago, leaving behind her husband and daughter. I am familiar with Death. I once question "why me" when my close ones past away. And someone once told me that it is because it is a trial in life and God wants me to bear a heavier cross. Till this day, I question this answer.
My Christmas wish to all my dear friends is to Stay in the pink of health...happiness is the key to good health. How to do that? Do not work too hard and take good care of yourself. Treasure what you have. And finally do not let others judge you for who you are...(gosh, what has the world become?)
A nut called buah keluak
Tried a nut, called buah keluak. According to my friend, it is a Peranakan delicacy, expensive for the way it is prepared. The nut has to be scrubbed and clean, with the inside fillings taken out to be fried with chilli sambal and then put back into the nut. It usually comes in a well known Peranakan dish called the Ayam Buah Keluak. A quiet taste...but interesting.
Reliving old days...
Yesterday, a group of old friends made a spontaneous trip to the Malaysian town of Malacca after 11 years. When we do such trips, which are rare these days given everyone's hectic schedule, the 3-Fs rule applies: Fellowship, Food and Foot reflexology. Visited an unusual eating house for dinner. Walked like 15 minutes through old shophouses and finally we found this famous eating place. But one look from the outside, you would not have imagined. The cook is at the entrance and cooking up a storm as you walk in. There are only 5 large tables inside and the owner of the place, a jovial and teochew speaking old man personally takes your order...with lots of good laughter and recommendations. That evening, we had noodles with oysters (house's specialty), drunkened prawns, fried soft-shell crabs and roast suckling pig...yummy. These eating houses are rare in Singapore these days as more and more restaurants are becoming commercialised.

Kwon Sang Woo
"Narnia!"
Seems like the only one enjoying the cold in this family is the lil one...
It is a daily ritual for Ryan. Every morning, he would jump up of bed, draw the curtains and this particular morning, he exclaimed, "Narnia!!!" You are funny, Ryan.
The whole place was transformed to a winter wonderland after the snow storm the previous evening...a rare occurence in Van it seems, from the folks in the town. So we took off and went boarding, build snowman, throw snow balls etc etc
Vancouver...brrrr...
I am back! Went to Vancouver for 30 days, what a trip! I realised I am a sunny isle girl after all, or rather, my bones are degenerating it was freezing in Vancouver. But other than the weather, it was great! I was there to visit Sis Serene and so doubled up as her confinement lady...
